Wedding Garter & Tossing Garter

Gone are the days we simply buy the one garter and whomever catches it, gets to keep the prize. Rather than asking for it back or throwing one you fell in love with that you paid big money for, brides have gotten wise and now purchase two so they can have a memento as well.

Ready to Fire Your Wedding Party Because You Can't Find Great Gifts?

Most brides struggle over what to get their wedding party in the form of gifts for all their help. If your bridesmaids have had a lot of responsibility or traveled a long way to be in the wedding for you, then you should spend up to $50 on each of them or more if it is a major affair with a large budget. If they have done very little and you have a wedding coordinator, then token gifts like cosmetic bags and costume jewelry will do just fine.

Everyone has an opinion of what should be given, but as with everything in these modern times, anything goes. Today, groomsmen have been known to receive gifts in the form of a monogrammed money clip or handkerchiefs. If you have a mother or mother-in-law who wants to ask the wedding party members for you while you’re not around, you have a better chance of actually getting the gift they desire.

If you don’t have any ideas, buy personalized wedding tokens like your last name with your wedding date engraved on a charm for their wine glasses or a laser paperweight of your engagement photo. Most of the wedding shops referenced on this site have a section for bridesmaid gifts with substantial discounts from on-line wedding shops, jewelry outlets to the luggage shops.

Doves, Flowers, or a Miniature Bride and Groom?

Wedding Cake Toppers these days can be just about anything as long as it fits on the top tier of your wedding cake. If you are using a professional cake service, chances are they will have many books of selections to choose from for not only the overall look of your wedding cake, but also for the keepsake cake topper.

If you are having a friend or a local grocer create your cake for you, you’re usually on your own when it comes to finding a decorative piece for the top of the cake. Most major department store chains with a wedding registry will have knowledgeable staff to direct you to the best local wedding stores for a unique cake topper.

If you don’t have this luxury, then you will have to rely on internet searches. On-line wedding shopping typically provides the best bargains, but you have to make sure you are buying from a reputable established company with solid customer ratings. There are many stores who have a nice selection of cake toppers to choose from on line that you can trust.  I've located one that has some hilarious wedding miniatures.

Destination Wedding Planning - making it affordable for your wedding guests to travel

One of the hardest things to coordinate is the arrival of family. You will have to deal with where to put the relatives, who picks them up, where they will sleep if immediate family, what to feed them for several days, transport back to the airport while you’re on your honeymoon, etc. Nearly a third of the rsvp’s to a wedding are last-minute "no shows" even if the wedding is local. And, there always seems to be too many relatives to pile into your own home.

Making a master chart of wedding party and relatives as to who arrives, when and where, is not as easy as it sounds but about the only way to stay in control of arrivals and departures for your local wedding party to manage for you. One of the best ways to stay in control is to create a flow chart of who is arriving with a number for each couple in addition to a time line chart on individual poster boards using a pencil to fill in names with who is picking whom up, etc.

If you are planning a wedding out of the immediate area, accommodations are even more difficult with cancellations and last-minute self-invited friends to accommodate. If you are having a wedding somewhere other than in the local area and are in need of more than ten out-of-state reservations, I would highly recommend getting professional help.

December in Sum...

Be very aware of excursions, which are your tour shore trips. Excursions often cost more than the cruise itself. Honeymooners will often book these tours, which are non refundable upon booking, before they get on the ship. Most of them will wind up skipping various excursions to spend romantic time togther, because they are way too tired from staying up all night, or are combating a monster hang over from the ship’s many night clubs, comedy shows or casino action. There is an ebook that helps you get the same exciting tours the ship is offering for a fraction of the cost. Check out the link below for more information.

If you decide to do your own, once you’re done with your candle making sessions for the wedding ceremony, if you have the extra time and some extra wax, you could create a tasteful smaller set to take with you on your honeymoon to continue the romance.

Once you’ve said: "I do," don’t kill the romance by filling all your spare time with wedding plans. Intimacy is key to reducing stress levels during your engagement period, especially if you’ve planned your wedding to take place at least a year after your accepted proposal. Take one night off each week to be with each other doing something you would have done prior to the engagement. Don’t kill the mood by discussing wedding plans. I’ve located a book that claims to have 4000 romantic ideas, which should help keep the love blooming for years to come!

Though disposable cameras are at nearly every convenience and grocery store these days, ones that are reasonably-priced specifically decorated to look appropriate to a wedding celebration are hard to find. If you are in need of some wedding-wrapped disposable cameras for your upcoming celebration that won’t break your piggy bank, click on the link below.

The veil is one of the last iconic symbols in a wedding ceremony, though it is sadly seen less now as women want to show their faces from the onset for photo opportunities and videographers. It appears that traditional wedding veils have been replaced most often with a hair piece, an umbrella and/or flowers in the hair. If you are into tradition, there are sites that offer wedding veils.
